What to expect
The content will be divided into 3 units this semester: the present, past and future. The idea in Spanish IV is to keep using what we learned in past units into the subsequent units. For instance, when we focus on the past in unit 2, the expectation is that we will continue to use the present tense from unit 1. Just like we do when speaking our first language.
In the first unit, we will focus on the present tenses and the elements of having a good conversation. How do I begin a conversation... and keep it going? Who are we? What do we like to do? How do I end this conversation! It's about fluency and getting to know each other.
In the second unit, we will focus on the past tenses and how to tell a good story! Once we can communicate with humor and emotion, communication (listening and responding) increases and we become more interested in what we all have to say!
In the third unit, we will focus on the future and conditional tenses and how to get a job! We're going to look at our future career goals and find out what we need to do to accomplish them. We will be writing resumes, recycling our conversation skills from the very beginning and learning how to give and have a good interview!
In each unit we will have a Layered Assignment which includes lots of practice, a presentation and a debate. This is a major assessment and is further explained in the link "Layered Assignment".
